20 June, 2022

Rs 1000 Cr. Subsidies had been given in last 3 years 2019,20,21 ( under FAME II Scheme of Min of Heavy Ind. Central Govt.). Although Some State Government Also provide subsidies but this is very nominal values and not purpose full to a Business perspective.

The criteria to avail subsidies is to follow the Guidelines issued by Ministry of Power, central Govt through its amended Notifications dated 01.10.2019( originally 14 Dec 2018.) . Although subsidies offer were open to all Public and private entities.(as per EOI issued in July 2019 & August 2020). The subsidies Rs. 300 to 400 Crores per year had been allocated / given on apply Criteria basis to Public Sector Units (Such as NTPC, BHEL ,ONGC, Local Bodies, State Govt, PSU of  State Govt ).

Till now neither any Private company (must have min Turnover 50 Crores) had been allotted nor any Private Company shown their interest for subsidies option. Private Companies has opinion,  such guideline based Mix Denomination Slow & fast (total 7 to 8 mix Chargers) would not make their PCS Business lucrative and profitable. However Private entities may earn Good ROI ,if they strategically install , high Fin-Tech efficacy Fast Chargers (with special type and denomination) at their PCS. While Government`s vision & motive is to create Charging Infrastructure across India to Serve ready Charging Facility & help for demand creation of Electric Vehicles in India.

Few un-categorised and small in nature but useful subsidies are also given by different states of India on set up Ev Public charging stations. Delhi state Government gives subsidy limited only to slow Chargers` cost or up Rs 30,000. Some States also Gives subsidies on Land purchased to set up charging stations. Almost every state Government provides cheaper electricity ( varies Rs 5 to 8 per unit ) to EV Charging stations. Such rates are lower than prevailing commercial or industrial electricity rates.
