5 Myth Busted about Setting up Ev Public Charging station

Myth-1:  Set up Public Charging Station can be start Rs 1 Lakh :  Electric Vehicle specially  Ev Cars, Electric Buses, Cargo Trucks  are big amount energy charging consumers. Fast charging requires Big DC Fast chargers , starts with 10 Lacs and above , also need associated power equipment.  Supplying Power to juice up to such category of Electric  vehicle is CPO Business , 2 wheeler charging can be done by small chargers even fastly but this is not a Business in itself .In whole day,  charging activity generating income will not sufficient ,even to meet  out attendant salary.

Myth 2: Subsidies are there as freebies from Government: Fact is subsidies were allocated Rs.1000 Crore under FAME-II scheme. All allocated subsidies has been distributed by open EOI system to PSU and semi Govt. agencies. At present no subsidies available to private players, except state level nominal amount of capital and land sanctions on concessional rates. Some State government  giving  subsidies but it’s a either kind of nominal or concessional land allocation, which suits to large business houses not for a new startup.

Myth 3 : 50 Kwh DC Fast charger is good enough Standard specification  Charger: The requirement of deploying 50 Kwh DC fast charger at Public Charging station were first introduced in notification issued (year 2018) by Ministry of Power , Govt of India. This  notification were issued 4 years ago, meant for setup Public charging Stations through FAME-II subsidies scheme. The above notification was issued when(2018) none of popular Ev Car or other electric car  were on road at that time. So the charging service, juice up requirement came  after so called 50Kwh Dc charger deployment. Electric vehicle needs Chargers as per their requirement not the DC fast chargers bringing the Vehicles as per their specification. DC Fast chargers must be deployed as per viability and efficiently serviceability to Electric cars & Vehicles. Now a days 30 or 60 Kwh DCfC are quite popular and fit in the block.

Myth 4 : Fast charging Station are good in Big metro cities. Rather fact is that Fast public charging stations not good in Cities as much as good on Highway .The Most requirement of Fast charging station are on Highways. So small cities which connect to Highway or outer skirt are good option for charging station business at outer skirt of the Small cities also. Setting up charging station in small tier-II or Tier III cities good when setup at outer skirt of city on the Highways.

Myth 5: Cost of DC Fast charger is only Capital Investment, Major cost of setting up charging stations goes to DC Fast chargers (up 40%) ,further almost 25% cost involve towards Power management and controlling Equipment . It( Fast Charger) is just 50% of total Investment required to set up fast charging stations. The DC fast chargers requires uninterrupted extracting current from the Grid 11KVA lines. To keep it continuous functioning ( upto 100 Kwh) power requirement of DC Fast chargers, needs  extracting amperage current very fast and upto 400 Amperes. Such a High voltage and amperage need power managing equipment.
